From the May 21st 1956 Anson Record

The picture seen in the Jimmy Ingram flagging the winner at Cheraw Speedway page was used in the following Anson Record dated 6-18-1956.

Zeke also ran at Rockingham, Lumberton and Wadesboro.

I know this is from Wadesboro and not Cheraw but it has Jimmy Ingram in it.

ATTENTION EVERYBODY!!!!!

Mark your calendars for
Cheraw Speedway TAKE BACK THE TRACK Kickoff Event
Saturday, October 8, 2011. 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. or until everybody decides to go home.
Mark your calendars.
Stay tuned for details.

About a dozen of us got together at the track today, ate some chicken, marvelled at the AMAZING progress in cleaning and clearing already underway courtesy of the love and affection of Willie, Jimmy, Jeffrey, Danny, Junior, Lois, and crew.......and we chose October 8 as the next date for a "come one, come all" kind of day. Plans are being made for some hot dogs, maybe some barbecue, a handful of guys who will probably bring race cars....

Everyone is invited, everyone is invited to bring anything they want to bring - that means you can bring a race car, you can bring a rake, you can bring your shovel or your Bobcat - or you can just bring your own sweet self and stories you want to tell. You can bring brochures and pamphlets and business cards about whatever you do for a living; we will have a table for that stuff. We are honestly making this up as we go along, and we will let the details be known as we know them.

One thing for sure: DO BRING YOUR OWN CHAIR!!!!!

Second thing for sure: BRING YOUR SMILE!!!!

You can keep up with things at

https://www.facebook.com/groups/cherawspeedway/

And if you have ideas or stuff you want to include in the planning, feel free to message me here or through Facebook.

We hope the October date will be the precursor to turning Jeff Gilder and RacersReunion loose to help us put on a really big show a little later on.

Lynn as usual I got the horse before the cart I went back and read the article again and seen that you own the property so when you get ready let me know have chain saw, weed whacker and blower can help some. As some would tell you I have a weak mind and strong back but willing to give what I can...

Mike Sykes,

Thanks for your interest. I own the property. I'm Lynn Ingram, the daughter of Jimmy Ingram, who owned and operated Cheraw Speedway.

Who now owns the property ? Would they go along with the project and if so what would they expect out of the deal ?

Hi, Jim Seay, glad to see you're interested. The advertising car is long gone; that was Daddy's friend Barney Coker driving; Barney was a stalwart supporter of the track, fed the winner a steak dinner each week, was Daddy's buddy when he raced up and down the East Coast before opening the track. Do come see us - and you don't even have to say Chee-raw - some folks kinda do that as a joke, just saying Chuh-raw will be fine - and sometimes people say Shuh-raw. Probably we are OK with most anything you call us - as long as you call us. Come on down!
