I lived with neil and jean in the early 60s when we ran the 58 ford convertable, yep, I have some tails of the time. he had just finished the movie (Thunder in carolina) at darlington and all the movie cars were at the garage. he had the #8 chevrolet that won the race in the movie on a trailer where he parked the car in front of the theaters when they showed the movie. Neil lost his right eye due to cancer but still does movie work as well as his son neil jr. I call him every so often to see how he is doing.

I met "Soapy" in the 70's here in Delaware. I was young but remember him well! He was her doing business with my grandfather, they were doing a spray insulation business together. While here "Soapy" got involved in the "Greased Lightning" project, as stunt driver was apparently another vocation of his. Many of the race cars featured in the movie came from our area and several drivers went down and participated in the filming.
